Urban LegendsUrban Legends are modern, fictional stories told as truth that reached a wide audience by being passed from person to person and town to town. Urban Legends are often myths and are false, however some urban legends are true. The legends that are not true have sometimes been inspired by an actual event, but evolved into something different in their passage from person to person. More often than not, it isn't possible to trace an urban legend back to its original source; they seem to come from nowhere. Urban Legends thrive on people's deepest fears; that our safe world can crack at any moment and a madman will change our lives forever. That alone is enough to give anyone some serious second thoughts about our everyday routine. These legends and myths range from serial killers, and ghosts to the completely unexplained. However, several elements are found in many urban legends. Typically, urban legends are characterized by some combination of humor, horror, warning, embarrassment, morality or appeal to empathy. They often have some unexpected twist that is outlandish but just plausible enough to be taken as truth. Chances are you'll find many versions of these creepy stories as they get passed on from person to person. Many of these spooky stories are told as I remember them years ago. They may not be the version you've heard, but that's what makes it fun. These folklore tales are not suitable for young children or the faint of heart, so if you're neither of those...Get comfortable, dim the lights and read a few classic urban legends. Night at CemetaryA person makes a bet with their friends that they can spend the night in a cemetery and are is found dead in the morning in the arms of a graveyard statue. Organ HarvestA woman heads out for drinks and passes out after meeting a nice man. In the morning she realizes that an organ harvester has surgically operated on her. Spider BiteA girl falls deep asleep until a spider awakes her. Later that week a pimple grows on her cheek, which becomes a home for a numerous spider eggs. Stranger at the DoorTwo children are left home alone while their parents go out to dinner. They hear knocking on the door. The boy decides to see who is knocking, and when he doesn't return, his sister goes to the neighbors to call the police. What happened to the boy? The BabysitterA babysitter, left alone to care for sleeping children,
receives several threatening phone calls. After reporting the calls
to the police, the girl is notified that the calls are originating
from the upstairs extension. The babysitter flees the house before
a serial killer, who has already murdered the children, can kill
her. The Body in the BedA recently married couple go to Las Vegas for their honeymoon, but a very bad odor from the bed in the hotel ruins their honeymoon plans. Wait to see what it was! The Dripping TapThere was a woman who only had her dog, and the dog licked her hand everynight to say goodnight. However, one night all she heard was a drip. The HookA couple's late night make-out session is cut short when they hear a report on the car radio about an escaped killer, with a hook for a hand, in the vicinity.
