The Lost Boys (1987)
Sleep all day. Party
all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire.
Starring Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman,
Jamie Gertz, Dianne Wiest, Edward Herrmann, Barnard Hughes
Easily
one of the most entertaining vampire movies made in a long time,
despite the presence of the Coreys (Haim and Feldman), The Lost
Boys centers on a family who, after a divorce, moves to Santa
Carla, the "Murder Capital of the World" - and they soon
find out why it's known as that. Overrun by bikers who look like
they're expecting a Guns N' Roses concert to jump out at them at
any second, Santa Carla just happens to be home to all sorts of
creatures that go bump in the night. While the younger son, Max
(played by Haim) chooses more sensible, comic book-reading and vampire-hunting
friends, his disillusioned brother (Jason Patric) takes up with
one of these gangs, only to find out that they're actually a pack
of vampires, and - whoops! - now he's one, too! Enlisting the help
of his new friends, Max sets about trying to help his brother by
seeking out and killing the head vampire. Will they succeed?
