I know, I know: you're very busy at work, and your in-laws are visiting, and you've just got to get at cleaning out those rain gutters. Halloween Costume Ideas for Couples

Crocodile Hunter & Wife

Each wears khaki shorts and shirts, with hiking boots and socks. Take a white pillowcase or laundry bag and put rubber snakes inside the bag. "Terri" or "Steve" could have one snake around their neck and the other could carry a stuffed or rubber crocodile. Have fun, Mate!

Gomez & Morticia Addams - Couple Costume Idea

Possibly the easiest couple costumes you can make. For Morticia: find (or buy at a thrift shop if you have to) a long black dress and wig, or dye another coloured dress if you can't find a good black one (you can do the same with your hair, too, using black hairspray). Powder your face with baby powder or flour to give yourself a delightfully dead look, and you're done!

It's even easier for Gomez: a old, dark suit (pin striped if you can find one) either from your closet or a thrift shop, and a cigar. Add a pocket watch chain to your vest pocket for a little extra flair.

Raggedy Ann & Raggedy Andy

For Raggedy Ann you will need an inexpensive red wig or you can use Koolaid to dye your hair if your hair is a very light color (it will wash out). You can also use a dyed red yarn for hair, and hairpins to hold it in place. Try to wear a red and white checkered dress with a white apron, although any color dress will do. Put on long tube socks with horizontal red & white stripes or any long socks and black "Mary-Jane" shoes or sneakers. Make a large red spot on each cheek with rouge or you can use the makeup on the main costume page.

Raggedy Andy can use a mop head, dyed red hair, a wig or dyed red yarn for hair, and hairpins to hold it in place. Wear a white shirt, with red jeans, slacks or shorts with large white buttons or colored suspenders, tube socks with red/white horizontal stripes and black shoes or sneakers. Make large spots on cheeks with rouge.

Siamese Twins - Couple Costume

This one will take a little sewing, but nothing difficult to accomplish. Get a big, stretchy sweat shirt and two pairs of sweat pants. With the pants you'll probably want to sew an extra leg into the crotch of one pair (think three-legged race), and with the sweatshirt you can both put your heads through the one neck hole, or make two by slitting the shoulders and sewing it together again in the middle.

X-Files Scully & Mulder

This costume can often be found at your home already. For Scully you will need a trench coat, dark slacks and a top, and an authentic looking badge. For Mulder you will need a trench coat, slacks and jacket, white dress shirt and tie, and an authentic looking badge. Fox Mulder will need to wear a dark suit, white shirt and a tie and a dark trenchcoat. To dress up as Dana Sculley, you will need to wear a black suit or any dark suit, with a dressy white shirt with dark pump shoes and a tan, black or brown trenchcoat. If you don't have red hair dye your hair red with red Kool-aid or consider buying a red wig.

Austin Powers

There are numerous different ways to dress up as Austin Powers, Man of Mystery. Basically you need a 1960's style suit or bellbottoms. If you have, or can borrow a leisure suit or bellbottoms you are all set, any color will do (the brighter the better). If you don't have any bellbottoms, perhaps you can borrow some or buy some cheaply at a thrift store. You will need a white frilly shirt and a lot of cheap jewelry. If you can't get a frilly shirt cut the center from paper coffee filters and attach them to the cuffs of your shirt to make them look frilly. Now fold several coffee filters together and glue them together, this should be attched to your shirt collar to make your shirt look frilly.

Brain Donor

All you need for this costume is a hospital gown or scrubs, a jar and a piece of cauliflower, but make-up and gauze definitely help. Give yourself bags under your eyes and wrap your head in gauze (add some blood spots while you're at it). Then fill the jar with water or pickle juice & drop the piece of cauliflower into it. Drool.

Britney Spears

This costume is one of the favorites. Britney enjoys wearing bell bottom slacks any color, Blue Jean Bells are good), short shirts (down to navel, lacy if you have one), or platform shoes. Britney's hair is usually blond and long, but she has been known to wear her hair brown. Lately she has cut it and curled it, so you will have to decide if you want the old Britney look with long hair or the new Britney with short curled hair. Now, put some red lipstick on, some blush, and some eye shadow. And for the finishing touch carry a fake microphone with you if you can make one and make a nametag that say's "Back Stage Pass, Britney Spears."

Cleopatra

You can use any white dress, old sheet, or even a nightgown that you own. Any color dress will do really. You can buy a white tablecloth or sheet from the thrift store, decorated with glitter, and fabric paint along the edge. Shop at yard sales for costume jewelry or borrow some inexpensive jewlry. Paint all jewelry gold. Color your eyes with blue eyeshadow and black eyeliner. Also, try to find a dark wig for Cleopatra.

Kissing Booth

Construct a booth using two boxes, with the opening of the top box facing forward. Add straps so the boxes sit on your shoulders. Spray paint the boxes white and then use red paint to write "Kisses $1" and "Kissing Booth" on them.

Mime

Dressing up like a mime is so easy and it looks better than any store bought costume. All you need are a dark shirt or stripped shirt and dark slacks, or you can use a long sleeve exercise outfit. Apply white makeup over your entire face and use red lipstick or red makeup on your lips. Now if you have a derby hat or even a barret, that would make a nice touch. If you have some white gloves wear them. You can mimick a mime when people are watching.

Nerd

Wear high-water pants, cuffs about 7 inches from the floor, a white shirt buttoned un-evenly, a sweater vest, a bright tie, suspenders, one white sock one colored, saddle shoes and dark-frame glasses with white tape around the nose piece. For that extra touch, use a pocket protector and carry a calculator in your pocket. Carry a computer book with you.

Skeleton

Also very easy, all you need is a black sweatsuit (with a hood if possible), some contact paper and scissors, and black and white make up. Cut some arm bones, leg bones and a ribcage out of the contact paper and then peel the backing off and stick them to the sweatsuit (contact paper is easiest but you can use regular paper and glue instead). Then just paint your face up and you're ready to go!
